I’m announcing my re-election campaign to continue serving our community on the Washington Unified School District and to continue my life’s work to improve the quality of life for our students and families.

With experience as a teacher, school social worker, district administrator, non-profit executive, and now as a state agency early childhood leader, I have dedicated my entire life to fighting for our students and families. However, it is my deep love for our two daughters and our collective experiences in Washington Unified schools that drives my commitment to fight for our community every day.

We must continue to focus on high-quality early care and education, college readiness and career programs, and support services like counseling, nutrition, and enrichment programs that equip our children for the future. This mission is now more critical than ever – but all of this is only possible by collaborating with our parents, teachers, staff, caregivers, and students.

As a refugee from Vietnam, my first language was not English. Like so many of our students and families who struggle to navigate our school system, I faced similar challenges growing up. My lived experiences have informed and guided my life's work, driving my commitment to addressing the barriers and challenges our students and families face today. This is why I am running for re-election — to ensure that every student has the support and resources they need to succeed.

I would be honored to have your support.

In Solidarity,

Jackie Wong, WUSD School Board Member
